Aim

• The goal of applying informed consents is to inform each participant of the project’s commitment to protect the information provided throughout and at the end of this project, as well as the implications of their participation in the project activities.
• Participants can only decide on their preferences about how the project will use the information they provide.
• To promote participation and knowledge co-production in ethical terms different tools and approaches can be developed that consider accessibility issues in order to make procedures more inclusive.
• We present several steps to consider in the implementation of informed consent, including providing consent in virtual spaces of interaction.
• In contexts in which taking informed consents is not a standard research practice, it may create mistrust and require extra care to inform and empower people in the decision-making process.

Step-by-Step

• Searching for national and international regulations and existing models of informed consents.
• Elaboration of documents and forms.
• Simplifying vocabulary in documents and forms to improve understanding (plain language).
• For each audience define and adjust issues of accessibility, information provision, and ways to register consent (see description of the tool)
• Confirm that everyone has completed the required forms
• Back-up copy of completed informed consents forms in secure places.
